George W. Little Receives 2016 Cornerstone
Southern Pines businessman and Moore County native, George W. Little was presented with the 2016 Cornerstone Award. In a celebration of his contributions to the community on Thursday evening, family, friends, and colleagues gathered in his honor. Along with being one of the original founders of the local United Way, George Little has advocated and worked extensively for education at all levels for the people of Moore County. He has been a member of the Sandhills Community College Board of Trustees since 1981 and since 1985 has served as chairman. While creating and maintaining his own successful business, his list of political activities included working closely with former North Carolina Governor Jim Holshouser and a run for governor himself in the 2004 North Carolina Republican Primary. The United Way of Moore County was pleased to honor George for his philanthropic work in the community.

The Cornerstone Award is the highest award for volunteerism given by the United Way of Moore County and presented to an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment, creativity, leadership, inspiration, and sustained service and broad scope of impact on the quality of life of our community.
