In consideration for the health and well-being of our staff, the United Way of Moore County is open for appointments only at this time. For health & human service information/assistance or for information about COVID-19/Coronavirus please dial 2-1-1. The 2-1-1 information & referral service is available 24/7, 365 days a year in multiple languages. 2-1-1 has also been activated by Governor Roy Cooper to assist people with regard to COVID-19/Coronavirus. 

 Remember to thoroughly wash your hands, cover your mouth when sneezing or coughing, use tissues only once then throw it away, stay home if sick, keep unclean hands away from your mouth, eyes, and nose. The Moore County Department of Public Health advises you to find updates on COVID-19 on the CDC website at cdc.gov/coronavirus and guidance from the North Carolina Division of Public Health at ncdhhs.gov/coronavirus. Mike Fields to be Honored with Cornerstone Award

He has been many times on the program and several times the Master of Ceremonies, this year the United Way of Moore County will honor long-time resident of the Sandhills, Mike Fields with the 2020 Cornerstone of the Community Award. The award is the highest award for volunteerism given by the United Way of Moore County and is presented to an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment, creativity, leadership, inspiration, sustained service and broad scope of impact on the quality of life in the community.

Mike Fields has history with Moore County. He was raised here and educated here until college where he graduated in 1981 from Duke University. Mike has served numerous nonprofit organizations, including the United Way of Moore County and the Southern Pines Rotary. After serving many years in leadership positions with the Town of Southern Pines, he was elected Mayor in 1993, the youngest person to ever hold the position.

On Thursday evening, January 30th friends, family and the community will gather for roasts and toasts of Mike at the Cornerstone Banquet. The event will be held at Pine Needles kicking off with a reception at 6:00 p.m.

The event is a fundraiser for the United Way of Moore County in support of local nonprofit partners we work with to help provide programs and services for our community. Apply for Grants

In order to be considered for funding, organizations interested in applying for United Way of Moore County grants must submit a letter of intent to be received by United Way of Moore County on or before December 20, 2019. Upon receipt of this letter of intent the organization will receive notice of a mandatory meeting to receive the following: • Application for Funding & Checklist • Required Documentation Listing • Timetable for the United Way Review & Allocation Process • Presentation Format • Participation Agreement Completed applications must be returned to the United Way office no later than 3:00 P.M. on February 21, 2020. Absolutely no applications will be accepted after that time. The annual review and allocation process will take place during the period of March 23rd through April 30, 2020. The process will include a site visit for the purpose of reviewing day-to-day operations. All organizations will be notified of the outcome no later than June 1, 2020.

The United Way Board of Directors applauds Cathy and Marcus Larose of Coldwell Banker Advantage Real Estate who have agreed to serve as the 2019 campaign chairs. “The board is pleased that the Larose’s accepted the challenge and is looking forward to working with this high energy couple in our mission to support the Moore County community,” said Chairman of the Board, Ryan Ciccone. The Larose’s said in a statement that, “Marcus and I along with the generous agents and staff at Coldwell Banker Advantage could not be more honored to support the United Way and this year’s annual fundraising events! Marcus and I have been longtime supporters of the United Way and the 17 agencies that benefit from your kind contributions. We have been able to witness the enormous impact that grants from the United Way have had. United Way is so instrumental in supporting agencies throughout Moore County. Anytime we get the opportunity to be a part of the United Way it is an exciting thing for us! We look forward to working with the United Way and hope that you all reach deep and donate so that together we can make the best possible impact on the well-being of our community.”

The 2019 campaign kicked off with an exciting and fun adult tricycle race in an effort to bring awareness to the campaign.
